A recent article in The Economist describes Canada as a "...success story. Apart from being physically beautiful, politically stable and socially tolerant, it is rich. Canadians enjoy the sixth-highest GDP per head... which makes them better off than the Japanese, the Germans and the French. The UN Human Development Index rates Canada as the world's fifth most agreeable country to live in." The country is rich enough in natural resources to maintain this desirable position for many, many decades to come.
